Over the past eight years, the Resort Course has played host to the Jebel Ali Golf Resort & Spa Challenge Match, the curtain raiser to the prestigious Dubai Desert Classic. The Challenge Match featured six of the world’s greatest golfers compete in a 9-hole match played in the rare format of greensomes.

The list of previous competitors reads like a who’s who in the world of golf. Tiger Woods, Ernie Els, Mark O'Meara, Darren Clarke, Thomas Bjorn, Greg Norman, Colin Montgomerie, Nick Faldo, Seve Ballesteros, Lee Westwood, Jose Maria Olazabal, Ian Woosnam, Ben Curtis, Shingo Katayama and Padraig Harrington have all graced the fairways and greens of the Resort Course.
In addition to being the Official Challenge Match, the Jebel Ali Golf Resort & Spa has also been the Official Hotel & Caterer for the Dubai Desert Classic.
